Criss Angel is the youngest of three brothers and he has been interested in magic ever since he saw his Aunt Stella perform a trick when he was six. He earned fifteen dollars for his first appearance as a magician, when he was fourteen. At age nineteen, he began working as a magician in children's shows and in nightclubs, earning three thousand dollars a week.
In 2001, he mortgaged his mother's house in order to produce the TV show Mindfreak, which demanded investments of $300,000. A year later, he had achieved an income of four million dollars and a great reputation as the creator of the "permanent polish" trick. His show is being aired on several TV networks, such as ABC, TBS Japan, and more. A characteristic of his magical acts is their demand of public areas, such as streets, and the use of common elements.
On the 20th of July 2005, Criss Angel Mindfreak premiered on A&E. Some of the magical acts he has performed in the show include escapes, levitating (himself or the audience), walking on water, hanging from a flying helicopter via hooks attached on his back, and others. Family members, such as his brothers or his mother, appear frequently on the show.
In July 2008, Criss Angel broadcast his first live stunt via A&E's network and website. It marked the second episode of season four, titled "Building Implosion Escape". Criss has mentioned in one of his previous episodes that, "One stunt can take anywhere from 10 minutes, 10 days, or even 10 months."
On the 26th of October 2011, Criss would like to share to all his Loyal Fans that with six successful seasons of Mindfreak behind, he promises in the future to reveal his next upcoming TV project as soon as it's all firmed up. He is also planning to unveil a brand new levitation that no magician has ever attempted.
